Vincent Lajarige, born 1948, is a painter and sculptor. As a trained physician he had the opportunity to travel the world with the Red Cross and Medicine du Monde. These human encounters and the discovery of the Amazon rainforest in the late 1980s directed his life towards art.
For the past 10 years, his art has been focused on communicating his efforts to defend the tropical rainforest, reflecting his passion in his art. His inspiration and belief has led him to the creation of an imaginary forest, totem like sculptures carved out of stranded wood. Through his talent an ordinary tree trunk comes back to life and reflects a beautiful new piece of art. Lajarige uses paint and resine and other techniques to bring the pedestals to life; an extraordinary talent with a unique message.
